Love to see your prep in action, especially as someone who often swings wildly between doing too much prep or not enough and just winging it!

Same, tbh -- though solo has unlocked me to do a bit more seat-of-the-pants stuff, so I'm hoping I can bring some of that energy when I return to traditional gamemastering. :)

“They say Gordin’s Delve is a place without law, but lo — when I pull on his chain, the law appears before me!”

That's hot!

This was very enlightening and helpful to read! I always struggle with prep and get bogged down in the details when I don’t have examples of what it looks like and whether I’m doing enough or not, which leads to me struggling with steps that are recommended - such as threat prep, session questions, etc.

This really laid everything out and was easy to follow.

Awesome to hear! I'll be excited to hear how your Stonetop sessions go in the Discord. :)

Lovely to peek behind the curtain and see your thinking. Over the years I've prepped less and less, just a few lines of character motivations and potential events. One thing I always do before every session, though, is to write down several NPC names to have to hand. It's a little thing that makes a surprising difference in play. I'm drowning in NPCs as a result, but that's not a bad thing, especially now that I keep them all in a Google Sheet shared with the players so they can refresh their memories too.

NPC names are always great -- I love the list they give you on Stonetop's GM playbook. I have the bad habit of starting in the same spot on the list so a given session will have an Aled, an Aela, and an Alistar.
