And yes, I think you're 100% right -- he definitely should've gotten advantage there! Probably not my first mistake, nor my last, but if I had to justify it to a disgruntled player, I'd say the advantage merely cancelled out the disadvantage of a long shot in the dark of night, while vigorously waving my hands.
They will, though he's not quite in 'kill on sight' territory. This is what I put in the prep episode back in early January:
"Returning to Gordin’s Delve will be a dicey proposition for Padrig. He’ll need to keep a low profile and avoid attracting the notice of people who might remember him. This is a tricky balance to strike as a GM — we don’t want to make it impossible for Padrig to contribute to the next story arc, but we also want to stay true to his backstory and use it to create some dramatic danger. So, we’ll envision that he’s not necessarily in ‘kill-on-sight’ territory — the Claws left years ago, and the Bosses have likely moved on to new enemies — but if he attracts someone’s negative attention, his past will make it that much worse."
My current feeling is that if he rolls in as Anwen's advisor, and Anwen is presented as an important leader of a nearby settlement, he'll get a thin shield of something akin to diplomatic immunity, at least at first. But interacting with them will be a risk, no doubt!
The fight was great and showed how dangerous the enemies are, while also allowing Anwen to shine.
When you rolled the struggle together for the chase, you say the caravan rolls with advantage from Pad talking to them, but then proceed to keep lowest as if they had disadvantage. With all those great rolls it didn't change anything and you used it for some nice tension with anwen and the motehr coming in last, just before their enemies arrived
Ack -- Looking back at my notes, I think I was hemming and hawing between giving them a straight roll (Pad's Advantage canceling out their Disadvantage for being beaten up, tired and terrified) or giving them Advantage, but I ended up applying just the disadvantage.
I'm glad it was still entertaining -- I've been a bit crunched for writing time lately, so sadly I suspect little misplays like the two in this session will crop up from time to time in the mechanics-heavy episodes. :(
Going to the bosses would open up a world of complex political shenanigans. Better to avoid them...for now.
They may resist being avoided, but we'll see how the dice fall! ;-)
I mean, won’t the Bosses remember Pad? And not fondly?
Unrelated… I think Pad got cheated of advantage on his first Let Fly—he was acting in info from Seeking Insight!

I really loved reading this.

I like that the assassin escaped. I wish for his soon return.
For the late vote... I go with Pad here. I do not see that the bosses give much advantage for the risk they pose.
Fight was great! (Also “Blood alone turns the wheels of fate.” he spits back.)
Man, but I'm getting p*ssed off by this hdour. Nice fight and subsequent chase scenes.
I voted to keep a low profile. Pad is know about the Delve and not a friend to the bosses.
That's probably a good sign for the antagonist of the arc. :) Now that Owain's out of the picture, we need someone else to focus our ire.
