I hadn't thought of it that way! 'Stop the minor threat close by so he can continue to defend the larger threat later'. I was seeing the choice more along the lines of him keeping the shield wall up to protect the majority, and that he would choose that over protecting the few near him. Either way, I'm excited to find out the consequences!
