When I was thinking through who might do the deed, it occurred to me that Padrig is the only one of them who has killed a 'helpless' prisoner -- he pushed Cousin Bertrim into the pit under Marshedge. So it would make sense that if it needed to be done again, he'd be the one to do it!
The chess match with death is certainly in there, but the homage I was thinking of was to Siddhartha:
"The name of this game was Samsara, a game for children, a game which was perhaps enjoyable to play once, twice, ten times—but for ever and ever over again?
Then, Siddhartha knew that the game was over, that he could not play it any more. Shivers ran over his body, inside of him, so he felt, something had died."
>I also do a half decent impression of Max von Sydow.
I voted for Vahid to do the red. Personal indeed, and how knows how much he has changed, feeling his defeat weighing on him…
I voted for Pad to cut Draigh down like a dog. He's willing to do the dirty work for Anwen and it seems appropriate.

Better watch out, messing with The Seventh Seal. It never ends well.
Not only have I properly geeked out with Ingmar Bergman's work, I also do a half decent impression of Max von Sydow.

This, I find very believable. ;-)
Guess I forgot my rudimentary Theravāda.
(I also do Brian Blessed. Sadly, my Chaim Topol needs much work.)
