Re: WBH Improved Stat: Do you have a more recent version of the playtest kit than me? The pdf I have has the Improved Stat move on it -- when I initially was choosing moves I thought it worked that way as well, but when I actually looked at the doc, there it was.
I think "Speak Truth to Power" is the right call here - it fits well with her personality and where she's headed as a character in the broad, medium term sense. I like to look at these choices primarily from a "what's narratively reflected, and pushes the story in an interesting direction" lens, and her playbook/persona suggests she'll be having a lot of this kinda conversation with Pod and Vahir, her mom, that thug from back home (and his mamma too). Stronk ludonarrative synergy, _and_ it ties into her defining move? Definitely my choice.
Iron Will feels reactionary - this is one monster one time on one road - I don't think she's really done anything to suggest she has an Iron Will story-wise, and from a charop standpoint, counter picking against a mob you could two shot with a hair comb 'aint it.
Makes sense -- I will say, Anwen expended a lot of resources to get the big hit on the creature, at a moment when it was underestimating her. She activated three separate moves to score the hit (Clash, Anger is a Gift, Impetuous Youth) AND she had advantage from Vahid's Sage Advice. Most likely, the second hit was not going to be as easy to come by, particularly when the Judge saw her as the biggest threat.
Obviously, if Iron Will is the selection, we'll find some fun opportunities to use it, but overall I agree that Speak Truth to Power is a really strong pick also. As of now, those two options are the leaders in the poll.
I forgot to mention that in my rationale, but I don't feel a need to "force" iron will type things to happen to anwen as a result of her taking the move. Excited to have caused some movement though, @ananda!
The idea of the witchlights' controller as a corrupted judge of the ancient world is incredibly cool
Big agree.
Thanks, both of y'all! I was a bit inspired by the modern state of criminal justice -- eager to pronounce guilt swiftly, always hungry for more flesh.
Not to get political or anything! ;-)
Awesome combat encounter and moving conversation.
Thank you so much! I'm glad the post-fight Keep Company landed well, and I'm excited to see where we can take Padrig's story. :-)
Yeah, this may have been the best one yet
ooh i’m finally caught up with the action! really enjoying this so far! all of the characters play off each other so well.
i will throw out that wbh’s don’t have access to improved stat, instead depending on rolling 10+s to improve their stats!
So glad to hear you're enjoying it! Excited to deliver more.

Oh wow, there it is. Huh. My bad on that, I’ve been playing Stonetop for over a year and have never noticed the wbh had both methods.

I find this argument persuasive. I would like to change my vote from Iron Will to Speak Truth to Power
