Interesting question! I think he definitely could -- in theory, he could meditate and manifest the third eye from the Maker's key, and Tymon may not have the savvy to recognize the difference. But he might! We don't know when exactly in his course of study he was expelled from the Lycaeum. ;-)
That said -- if Vahid chooses to reveal the power of the Hand, I think any roll, even a 6-, would do so for Tymon, because if the power goes out of control, that's all the proof he needs. Presumably, it could fizzle, but that would make Vahid look pretty foolish, and Stonetop's GM principle -- 'Be a fan of the PCs' -- advises against that unless they *really* deserve it.
Hee hee -- this decision point is a bit of an experiment. For the purposes of an exciting story, there's really only one choice. But lots of players would make the other choice, to avoid introducing more complications to the party's already complicated life, so it feels like it fits more in the 'game' part of this project than the 'novel' part of it.
Does Vahid have no way of doing something dazzling and pawning it off as the power of the hand? Since he knows how unpredictable it can be?

I think be a fan of the PCs only appli s at the Table with Others. I'm definitely more a fan of letting the dice fall where they may.
At least in solo
Huh!
Drive your character like a stolen car!

Totally agree with this one
