Help with her father is exactly what came to mind for me.

I think Owain would make a fun threat for next season. Anwen would have some tough choices to make, and Padrig is already stepping on his toes. Getting Vahid in trouble with him might take a bit more work, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Owain wants to give him a hard time in order to support Cerys’s disapproval of his discoveries.

Love that idea re: Owain giving Vahid a hard time about his discoveries beneath Stonetop. If he learns the details, he might also want to claim that power for himself and his warriors, which might be even harder for the party to fight against.

Even if Owain doesn't win the poll this week and advance his own agenda, he can definitely wait in the wings as a reactive threat, waiting for things to go wrong for the PCs and then pouncing on whatever advantage he can to maintain his social status in the village.

Busy week so I missed the vote! Sorcerer or Owain would have been my vote, probably Owain.

They definitely feel the most immediate and relevant to the struggles of the last session, for sure.

Hi, routine commenter and super-fan Machi here. I had to come down to the comments after reading this bit: "I have to confess: I was definitely expecting the poll to shake out in the other direction." because I was SO EXCITED by what's unfolding! This series has really been such a great adventure, and this really feels like the start of another EXCELLENT chapter.

It feels so _earned_, so crafted in a way I really miss when it's not there. I'm SO invested in Anwen and the others (even Vahid, a bit!), and this hook, and the way it's being set up. It's excellent. Knowing how bad Anwen wants this, how the sisters work, and how much of a shonen hero she is, the drama is going to be excellent. Well done SGH!

Poll time. Hard choice...

- The Hillfolk is interesting. I would like to see more of those folks and their culture in general, so this threat might provide this.

- Owain would be tough and tense for Anwen as it might stress her character development. Intriguing.

- Crinwin are long silent. And I assume, Lewela could be intertwined in any hook/encounter that is done in the great wood. It could also be refreshing to check out the threat from the initial sessions....

- Brannan.... hm... interesting. Also, interesting would be to hear how Meave(?) is currently. The jailbreak costed 2 guardsman their live, maybe Meave doesn't care, but that depends. One was a fresh recruit if I recall correctly, so maybe she feels that the jailbreak took a higher toll as she expected. Also didn't she wanted to have a word with Pad?

Ok I have made a decision.

Nice breakdown -- Maeve is definitely waiting to hear from Padrig, but given the distance between Stonetop and Marshedge, I don't think she expects an immediate callback. And yes, there may indeed have to be a reckoning for the dead guards, particularly the new blood. As a member of the old guard, Maeve may see the new recruits as part of Brennan's attempt to corrupt the guard, but she still respects the law, so there'll definitely have to be some sort of reckoning there.

Also -- good to have you caught up and back in the comments section! :-)

Yea :) I hade a binge reading on Sunday to catch up from prior to the jailbreak. Intense stuff. The Thunder Drake was an very interesting encounter, narratively and mechanically!

And it will be interesting to go back to the Fen to hunt or release Anwens Father. Many, many interesting story seeds you have planted.

Missed the vote but honestly I'm stuck. There are such good threads to pull on. Some of which could be combined or compounded by others. So I'm thinking I'm going to sit back and see how things shake out.

I'm happy Anwen didn't fight. It feels more genuine to hear it from the traders. "She doesn't look like a goat herd"

I felt like that line was everything this episode. Whether the people of Stonetop accept her as such she is what the gods have made her to be. What runs in her veins is warriors strength and that is evident whether she carries a blade or not.

I think it speaks to the truth of warriors spirit.
