As a player repeated 6- rolls would piss me off. Doesn't matter if it drives the story to exciting places, it makes the PCs seem incompetent, even if the framing is not 'you failed' and more 'something intervenes'.
Yeah, it can be challenging to make the session feel great if everyone's rolling terribly (or worse, if a single PC is rolling terribly). I think Vahid's has an especially swingy experience because he makes the fewest moves of all three characters, and often acts when the stakes are at their highest.
That's always a problem. If you sample a probability distribution only a couple of times a session the extremes will stand out. It's a long-standing complaint I have with BRP-derived d100 games, where 80% skill feels like it should be pretty damn good, but in play whiffs 1 time in 5. If you're only rolling on it once a session those failures can stick in the memory.
Yeah, regardless of the choice setup I'm always going to try to keep things moving forward. :-) I think there's a possibility we'll resolve the Owain threat this session, so the most important thing is to see *how* it happens rather than *whether* it happens. Anwen moving against him at this early stage might split the village in two, whereas a slower approach could help keep things together. We'll see!
I did not vote, because I just started to regain momentum to read up :)
That said, I probably tended to Caution, because as Pad said, strife is death, and confrontation with Orwain might be needed, it's also probably costing Stonetop more than laying low in this harsh winter.
Re the last vote, it just didn't seem like the right time for a confrontation, half cocked, no proof, not the wrong not even done by hand direct... I'm excited to see her struggle with it, but he's not ripe yet.
Man, in the scheme of things, this isn't the worst roll for Vahid to muff, but yeesh.
I know, right? He always seems to have these sorts of setbacks. At least it keeps things interesting for him!

I voted for Padraig's caution because I thought there were too many unknowns about Cerys and the consequences of breaking an oath with her.
The group as a whole already have a lot to deal with. 'Strife is death in the winter,' is a great little folksy axiom, by the way.
Makes sense!
And thank you! I'm always trying to mix in stuff that sounds like in-universe idiom or folk wisdom, glad to see it come through. :-D
I voted for Anwen's confrontation with Owain as action moves things forward. It looks like Anwen and Cerys have that covered though!
