PTFOOO: Preparing for Pilot Season

No new fiction this week. Next week: Our first pilot!

Today, all I’ve got for you is a quick teaser for the content that’s coming next week, where we’ll begin considering a few alternate storylines we could explore alongside PTFO: Stonetop.

As I mentioned in the wrap-up of PTFO:Stonetop’s Session 13, December and January’s content will be given over to what I’ve dubbed Pilot Season. Over the next three weeks, I’ll introduce three new campaigns — new settings, rulesets, characters, and a new story. One of these, I previewed back in August — a weird West bounty hunt played with Monster of the Week, a Powered by the Apocalypse homage to stories like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, and the X-Files, and we’ll revisit that pilot in more detail on December 26th (skipping Christmas Day!).

There’ll be three pilots total, and once the third one is revealed, we’ll decide which story to pursue with a vote. More Stonetop will be on the list as the fourth option — if folks want to forge ahead in that story, I’m ready to roll¹, but I wanted to take a pause and consider what else we could do. Whatever’s selected, we’ll play that story to a good act break (figure 2-4 Sessions, depending on the game and the story) and then do another pilot season, just to keep things fresh.

I won’t reveal which TTRPG powers next week’s pilot just yet, but it is a story of honor among thieves and loyalty among family, set in a broken and haunted world. Thanks for reading, and check your inboxes next week to find out more!
